Re: Clutch

Don't know what's good... but unless your pushing 200+ you wouldn't need a racing clutch.

OEM, exedy, act, etc...

Wink

a good stock one would work good.

Check to see if this company makes a clutch for your application(I'm 97% certain they do):

LuK

also try to get a GOLD model clutch if you can, I can get them pretty cheap but you will probably pay more then I can get it for. Bottomline this is what our shop uses for general clutch replacements, the golds are good shit and I can personally testify that after half a year and 30k miles on a 250hp/370lbstrq 4x4 truck that sees some pretty good off roading and countless clutch dumps, even repeadetly at times with a NV4500 transmission. This is the ultimate off road transmission, real low first gear, on the street and normal offroad use you start from a stop in 2nd gear like it was 1st in a 240sx. In 4 wheel low you can put it in first and no matter how hard you try it will not stall lol, you can get out and walk next to it and just let it creep ahead... no matter how good you can shift, when you shift from 1st to 2nd you come to a stop, it redlines at about 4 or 5 mph. It is very hard to break that transmission---be a good thing to put in a rwd nissan with a lot of power that breaks transmissions, except its twice the size and weight

thats enough of that horseshit, how about some other questions. Verify what year the car is, what mileage did it have, did you buy the car used, do you know the prior owner, do you have any reciepts for maintenance done previously?
Basically if you've never done a clutch job on it before that could have been the factory clutch and been on its last legs.

however abuse will eventually kill any clutch, you won't see a NASCAR or a fast professional drag car using the same clutch all season...

Alright well the previous owner was my uncle. so ya i guess i know him well. From what he told me he drove it hard once and a while, replaced the clutch as 95K and now it has 125K. I say i drive it hard drifting and such.

Other question about 220hp, opened ehaust by 1/4 inch, gives more top end and gave me about 15hp from my preivous 160 so im running about 175hp. Added a ram intake gave me about another 15-20 depeind of fuel type and grade. So i hitting the high 190s, getting new headers next. think that all, from what i can think of.

[Wish they made a supercharger for the 240 ]

Re: Clutch

You're not ganna be making 220hp N/A unless you get some head work. And you start at 155, not 160 and crank hp doesn't mean dick, it's all whp.

jesus christ you guys are anal, just calm down. not arguning just talking, Turbos kick in at a certain rpm to get the boost you really need. Supercharger puts power through out the entire power band. Plus turbos tend to die more frequently than superchargers do.

Plus that all the money i got to do upgrades, im rebuilding the enigine soon enough, would get an SR20, but not legal here in cali. Exspecially in Sourthern, this place crawling with cops. Not modding the exterior yet, cuz its like honda with big 2 foot wings that you can kick ths shit out of. no reason to make your car look fast if it not fast.

But for now all i care about is my clutch.

Re: Clutch

superchargers put power throughout the powerband? pfft, yeah, you know how much load their putting on the motor in upper revs? turning that pulley isnt easy, supers just kill the free revving nature of a good engine, while turbos are a sweet compliment to revs. supers are just for low end grunt. i like to think of superchargers as light-weight boat anchors, or over-sized paper weights, but whatever, its your build. btw, youd have to be running some serious compression on n/a to make 220 whp, that or nitrous. those mods you listed make about 15-20 hp all together, not each one by themselves.

lol, that reminds me of a ricer guy i met who pretty much believed that adding each sticker to his car gave it 5 more hp. 1/4 " exhaust upgrade gives 15-20 hp, hahaha.

Re: Clutch

word... superchargers have a linear hp increase... so yea it may be good on low end up that's about it. True turbo's are hard to get started on a NA car but once it's done ... you can easily gain hp by boost control. With a super all you can probably do is change the pulley or compressor. That still won't get you as much hp gain as a turbine upgrade for the same amount of money.

If your in SoCal ... i wouldn't recommend sr's... just do a ka-t. As for your clutch... you can get a good OEM set for a lil over a hundred. Labor runs about 250-450 depending on where you are...

seriously???? an intake you think gives 15-20 hp? did you hear that in THIS month's SS?

an extra 1/4 inch bigger exhaust will give you maybe 5-6 hp IF its mandrel bent but if its not then maybe 1 hp

an intake gives TOPS 3-5 hp and headers maybe 6-8 hp

and I/H/E on a ka24 will not need premium gas and you wont get much benefit from it either

oh yeah i HATE it when people call the normal CAI a "ram" intake.
its not.
SS ads just call it that to make it sound better and ricers think "oh yeah i think i remember my dad's old camaro having a ram intake, so this must be what it is"
