I'm a n00b, and am in need of some help!
Hey, I'm new to this fast and furious import car scene, and know nothing about cars period.
I just bought a 1991 Honda CRX and want to at least make it respectable, you know? I want a good strong engine that I can put into my CRX and anything that may need to accompany it. I also would like to know where I can get a decent set of rims, I don't want any HUGE chrome rims or anything like that....just a decent set of maybe 16's or 17's....something silver or that grayish black metal I hope I can get some help, I'd really appreciate it guys. Thanks! |

But seriously...what kind of power are you looking for, and how much are you willing to spend on performance? For rims, I wouldn't go any bigger than 16's. Maybe check out Rota, Konig, Enkei. There are about a million different companies out there and all in different price ranges. |

looks like you're going in the right direction! you didn't mention bodykits which is good
![]() For all you 1-post-wonders out there, this is the proper way to make your first post. Make sure you read the FAQ thread - and as far as engines the basic swaps are either d-series or b-series engines. You'll hear lots of different opinions of what to swap in - but it depends on: 1. Your budget 2. Your goals What are you using the car for, a daily driver? How much more power gains are you looking into getting? Going to go turbo later? Just some basic questions to ask yourself.

Like they said what are your goals? What condition is the body in? Are you into show or go?
Whenever I find a "new" rex I want to do: B20 V-tec, sleeved, port and polished head/intake/throttle body, forged internals, LSD tranny, full 3" exhaust, tein coilovers, and either turbo or nitrous. Leave the body stock except some 15' Rota bronze slips to set off the si blue paint. Ok enough with my story...Tell us what you want/plan.

Hey bud,
I'm new to the import scene myself, although I have some experience working on older domestic cars. I just bought a 91 CRX and it's my first project car that I will working on by myslef. Anyway, here is my plan for the next 6 months or so. The rear suspension is shot on my car, so it's the first thing to be fixed. 1. Tein Coilovers 1. New bushings all around. I also fixed some interior parts that were getting to me. The previous owner decided to mount an amp in the rear locking enclosure, so he cut a 3in hole in the center of it. Bugged the hell outa me and looked like shit. 2. General maintenance stuff. New plugs and wires, roter, clean the injectors, etc. While doing that, plug up a MSD ignition. 3. Whatever else it takes to get the car running smooth. Runs pretty good now, but could be better. 4. Cold Air Intake 5. Cat back system, which will take care of the exhaust. 6. Brake system. New rotors, pads, and lines. That should be me through the next 6 months. My suggestion is get the car running good first. Make sure you have all the maintenance stuff taken care of. These are old cars which arn't always taken care of like they should be. Post some pics of your new ride

body kits? I'm not sure what that is....?
anyway, my budget and my goals aren't very high to most of you out there who are savvy with these kinds of cars, and I probably sound stupid to you. I've heard of a turbo charger, and I believe I'd like to go that way and I just want to have a respectable car, and I'd like to keep it a daily driver. I'm not looking to equip nitrous oxide, at least not for now.....I don't really want to go that fast unless I decided to make a racer out of it, but I doubt I'll go that way. I guess I'm looking for an easy 400hp? Is that realistic? I want to be a serious player in the streets, and be respected....but I don't want to be the top dawg in town. I really just want to be able to show those fags in cobra mustangs that treat everyone like shit in my town what for....I'd like to be able to just eat them up and make them look like punks. |

Ya man, 400hp would cost a shittonne of money to make. Its doable, but it wouldn't be reliable, and expensive as hell!
Cobra Mustangs will probably give you a lot of trouble for quite a while.

Re: I'm a n00b, and am in need of some help!
I suggest to some research on the fundamentals of modifying cars and the parts and what they're used for. If you start a project car without any knowledge, its like doing a maze with a blindfold..you'll mess something up and you'll look like an idiot. A guy i know tried to mod his 91 integra without knowing anything about the scene and modifying->this sums up his car:
15 inch hubcap-looking chrome rims with non-low profile tires baby blue do-it-yourself tint on all his windows a 2 foot spoiler glued to his trunk a couple tazmanian devil stickers tacky white tribal stickers along the sides of the whole car white tape along the grooves on the hood a 10 dollar hood scoop taped to the hood and doesnt match body colour .....DOPE ride eh |

I see what you mean, I'd hate to spend a lot of money on fixing up my CRX just to blow up the motor....
I did a little reading last night, on this forum and some literature I was able to pick up at the local library....and I see how complicated it is so I will really have to learn a lot about it. which engine is best for me to go with though? What sort of turbo as well? 400hp unrealistic for a CRX? that's a bummer....the cobra mustangs are in the 390hp range aren't they? How do they put out that amount of HP and CRX's can't? |

A motorcycle only needs like 140hp to waste both you, and a Cobra.
