98' Camry HEAD UNIT INSTALLATION help

My brother gave me a CD head unit from his civic and I don't know how to install it into my 1998 Camry LE. Do I have to take off the dash? how do I do it? what do I need to buy?

Ok here is what you need and how you need to do it. First off you need to see if you have a slot under your factory radio. If you do then that will save you some money. If not then you have to go get a mounting kit from a local audio dealer or better yet best buy. You will also need a new wiring harness that will go from your yota to whatever kind of hu that you have. Then last you will need a antena adapter for a yota to your hu. You will need the harness that came with the hu and also a harness that fits to your camry.
Step 1. Put e-brake on, make sure car is off, put the car in a low gear so that you can get the shifter out of the way.
Step 2) Take out the ash tray and the cig lighter. Stap 3) pull off the pannel that goes from the ash tray to the top of your radio. (it might take a few good tugs. it is very strong but don't pull on it too hard.)
Step 4) un hook the cig lighter connections and pull the ash tray light out of the slot.
Step5) Take a size 8mm wrench and unscrew the two bolts above the stock radio and the 2 under the slot. (might sound confusing but you will see what I am talking about when you start to pull it out.
Step6) slide out the stock radio unplugging the harness and the antenna.
Step 7) unscrew the radio from the side shold have 2 to 4 screws on both sides of the radio.
Step 8) connect the crimped harness to the factory
harness and then screw the new hu back to where the factory radio was. Everything else is exactly opposite of what the take appart was. ***Important*** do not forget to plug in the crimpped harness and the antenna into the back of the hu. If you do not have a slot under the factory radio then you have to get a mounting kit along with the other things I said earlier. take apart like i said and follow the instructions for the mounting kit. oh wow! thanks for the nice instructions, they helped me get everything out...but it seems like the new hu is a little too big. The width isn't the same as my stock radio. Is that a problem?
