Saturn SL2
Hey guys, i might be getting a saturn soon.
But the only problem with it is that when i drove it, every time the engine rpm's got higher, the heating fan inside the engine got faster and louder. Is there something wrong with it? How easy is it to fix the problem? Also, how easy is it to change the timing belt on this car? ANd what is the firing order of the pistons? Thanks a bunch! |

Re: Saturn SL2
firing order is 1-3-4-2(as is every Inline-4 i know of)
if the blower fan gets louder as RPMs go up, the only relation i can think of is a bad voltage regulator. get a multimeter/voltmeter to check. there is no timing belt, there is a timing chain, $200 in parts, maybe $500/600 labor. it is possible for a skilled DIYer to do, if they know what they are doing. |

Re: Saturn SL2
are you sure it has a chain, and not a belt?
Looking at the facts, it does look like there is something wrong with the belt/chain, because only one cylinder has compression, and the others have nothing. |

you can take off the valve cover for a quick check, but the 1.9L is an interferance engine, so chances are, if the chain broke, the valves are bent. |
