What sensors would cause an engine not to run?
I do ALOT driving far from home for work and I was wondering what sensors would cause an engine not to run at all if they failed. It would be nice to have a spare in the toolbox in just in case. 99 S-10 4.3

Re: What sensors would cause an engine not to run?
Oil pressure switch is the 1st that comes to mind. Outside of that any other sensor that went bad would more than likely just cause it to run rough. You're better bet would be to get a cheap code scanner and keep that in the truck. A cheapie socket wrench set as well. That way if you set your ses you can just read the code and swing by a local autoparts place to grab what you need and do a quick parking lot fix.

I have a pretty nice scanner that stays in the truck. Never had to use it on the road thankfully. The oil pressure switch does'nt sound like a good roadside project though. lot of junk in the way. At least the crank sensor
is easy to get at! |
