Debating on buying this car

92 civic 4door, body is great...engine overheated, 180k, das all for problems that i know of, car is 450...i think its a steal, i want to put a vtec into it and i have seen some for about 500 on ebay with 40k on them as buy it now...i wanted to know what you guys think about my situation

hell yah, if the body is in good shape and the interior is clean buy it and swap another motor in there. $450 is a freaking deal.

well i just had an issue ran by me, this civic is automatic...i heard that vtec's arent compatible...is dis tru?

No that's not true, there are EX's that are automatic (the same engine as the Si; SOHC D16z6).

you can make it a vtec easly either with a head swap or a whole motor swap if you keep a D motor you dont have to change trannys you can even run a auto B or H even a K i guess

Simplified - You can take a d16z6 head and mate it up to your existing shortblock, it's called a mini-me. And you can get another D-series engine and still be able to use your existing transmission. Or if you want to do a swap you could buy an auto B-series, H-series, or K-series motor if you really wanted to.

you're not faking VTEC. You will have VTEC.
