Why won't my dash lights go off!?

Well I have started fixing all sorts of wireing issues, timing issues, and just plain filthy issues. The question is, after I have went through most of the wiring and it was like this when I bought the car, The oil light and brake light stay on whenever the car is off? But all the lights will go off when the car is running. Any ideas anyone? BTW if anyone wants me to post my progress with pictures as I go through all of this just tell me I should and I'll update pretty much daily.
