95 Eclipse RS: T-Belt Problem? Engine Light on!

Driving along and suddenly heard a wicked snaping sound, followed by a high whiring noise and then some burning smell which appeared to be coming from the area right around the timing belt cover.

The Check Engine Light came on right away. Coasted around the next block and parked it. Took the cover off and it looks like the belt is okay (two cogged wheels are about all I can see). The engine still runs and starts, but I'm afraid to move it.

Seems serious. Any ideas?

You don't need to post this in the main for AND the subforum. Once thread will suffice.

I would try to crank it over by hand to see if you ripped of any teeth or anything. If it starts and runs, you are in better shape then you could be. Does it crank over much faster when you try to start it now then before any of this happened?
