Would there be a big difference noticed between Spark Plug Wires?

Just curious if I would notice a difference, or if performance would be better, if I used some 8.5mm wires as opposed to 8mm wires.

THe sets I was looking at are MSD-32839, MSD-32833, and ACC-9044. (msd for the first two, Accel for the last one). Or would it not make a noticeable difference and just spend $30 on the generic stuff from Pepboys/autozone?

Re: Would there be a big difference noticed between Spark Plug Wires?

What year is your vehicle? Mine is a 96, and as far as I know, I don't recall there being any $30 dollar wires from autozone. The plug wires use special connectors so you can't just get any old set.

I got the accel ones from jegs and I think they're good. I can't remember if they're 8 or 8.5, but I'd endorse them. Jeg's sells msd ones too, but I needed the full tuneup, so I bought they're entire tune up kit including cap, rotor, etc- but I didn't use the included plugs.

I bought the wrong plug wires from jegs the first time (they were MSD helicoil), but they were for older blazer 4.3s. They looked real nice and were blue. They were only $30, and I would recommend those if you have an older blazer.

LOL, Jegs is a pretty popular mail-order parts resource. This is the item I bought, I would heartily recommend it. I could not find cheap wires for less than 60 bucks, so I splurged and got the kit. It comes with 8mm wires and everything fit perfectly.

O yes, my autozone quoted the cheapest wires for $90. They were a brand I'd never heard of before too. I'm pretty sure they were a cheap autozone brand.

They are all 7mm, but I doubt it matters. I think the factory are 6.5 or something.

I dont see anymore....
searched for autolites and nothing came up

So there would be no performance difference between the 6.5/7mm wires and a set of 8/8.5mm?

I always thought bigger was better (atleast in terms of power and speaker wire). Bigger size = more threwput.

Re: Would there be a big difference noticed between Spark Plug Wires?

8.5 wires are only going to make a real difference if you have an ignition system like an MSD 6/6a/6al etc...Otherwise stock or 8mm will be fine
