2001 Tranny

Well on the way to thr forum today, as I am diddle bopping down the road at 30 mph, my 2001, 68.000 miles (5.3) tranny decides to kick out of gear. The gear selector still says (D). I reve the engine up, it like being in nutral. I drop it back into nutral and back to drive. Like there is no problem now. Any body have that experience ???? Probaly better things to come!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have change the fluid/filter once at 55,000 miles...

The 1/2 ton tranny (4L60E I believe) is not the most robust in the world. Sounds like you have a torque converter problem. My understanding is that it is not uncommon to have a failure early in the life of the car. I had the same tranny in my old Suburban and it crapped out at 85K or so.
When you had the tranny serviced, did you have it flushed or just do what was in the oil pan and the filter?
