2000 Tracker power steering
We have a 200 Tracker. The steering was fine one day and the next morning she went to drive it and the steering is weird. When you turn the wheel it starts to turn easy and then it gets hard and if you keep turning it gets easier again and if you keep going then it gets hard again. It is like you are turning over humps in your steering. I noticed that when you turn the wheel until it is on top of one of these "humps" that the motor slows down and when you turn a little futher it speeds up slightly. The steering universal joint going into the rack is fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Haven't had this problem on my 2000. Is the PS fluid level full and clean? The engine is slowing down when you reach the 'humps' because the pump is working harder I assume. You may want to put it up on jacks and rotate the steering to see if the same thing happens with the front wheels off the ground. It should turn without any real effort if the linkages are OK.
