Re: 1 Bar??

1 bar is around 14.5psi. turbod16.com had a thread with all the info on it, but their site seems to be down again.

Re: 1 Bar??

Yeah, I know I've read that it's 14.7psi before. But I searched on google with "psi in bar" and it said "1 bar = 14.5037738 pounds per square inch". It's definently either 14.5 or 14.7 though. Hopefully some science major will know

Re: 1 Bar??

I think that 14.7 or 14.5 is close enough to say 1bar lol. But I have always heard it was 14.7 but maybe it is really 14.5xxxx

Re: 1 Bar??

1 bar is equivalent to atmosheric pressure which can be anywhere betweeen 14.5-14.7 psi depending on where you live. So if a turbo's max boost is 1 bar, the pressure right before it enters the cylinder is 14.7 + 14.7 = 29.4 psi, whereas in a NA engine it would be 14.7 psi right before cylinder compression.

1 ATM is equivalent to atmospheric pressure at sea level, which is 14.6959488 psi. 1 BAR is equal to 14.5037738 psi, as per google. They are fixed units, 1 bar at colorado is the exact same amount of pressure as 1 bar at sea level.
