Exclamation 1997 still stuck in store parking lot

Well yesterday I had to do some running around, no problem, at my last stop I came out of the store and my 1997 Tahoe will not start. The power turns on it doesnt even try to start the engine. So, my husband was on his way into town from Fort Irwin and picked me up, and we got a new battery, installed it same damn thing. I NEED to have this fixed by monday (cause my husband has to Fort Irwin) or one of us will be without a vehicle. Help please!!!

Need more info.Just a guess. But could be a starter. Maybe a neutral safety switch? Try starting it in Neutral.

Check the positive battery cable connections, and the connection to the main fuse box under the hood. The stacked positive cables are notorious for corrosion build-up under the red insulation. If there is any type of corrosion, it needs to be cleaned. -Chris

IT IS YOUR FUEL PUMP AC DELCO MADE A BAD BATCH OF FUEL PUMPS THE WIRES FROM THE FUEL PUMP ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH TO REACH THE SENDING UNIT AND OVER TIME THEY BURN OUT. THE SENDING UNIT WILL ALSO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. IF THE GAGES WORK WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY BUT THE TRUCK WON'T START THAN THATS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT HAPPEND TO ME

Before you do anything have someone crawl underneath and lightly rap on the starter w/ a hammer while your turning the key trying to start it.Turn key and hold for about 3 secs at a time.If it starts or even begins to turn over your starter is bad(very common)If not.lightly tapping a starter shouldnt damage it. Good Luck!

same thing??

I have a '97 that also has electrical urn on fine, but has recently encountered hard start. It still starts everytime but only a hard turn, jiggle, and accelerator tap. Could this be starter?, or solenoid-related?, or fuel-pump?? Sorry to jump in on this thread but saw the relationshop.
Many thanks.

Re: 1997 still stuck in store parking lot

im having same problem, i took it to midas and guy just said it might be fuel pump, cause he said the starter is fine, cause the car starts fine after repeated use (not cold starts), but i was talking to mine friend who works at another shop, he said to check the fuel filter, cause that could be the reason, cause on tahoe's, suburban's etc, ppl tend to forget to replace those, ill check this and let ya know

Thank you. Will definitely like to know if it's fuel pump or fuel filter, since I just changed the fuel filter at 60k (1k miles ago).

well i took it today to my friend shop, come to find out, the fuel filter was in fact dirty and needed to be replaced (cost about 10 dollars for it) you can do it if u feel like getting under the car. the main reason why was wrong w/ the tahoe was in fact the battery, for me, the battery lost its charge and was at 125 CCA instead of the normal 700 (for the battery), so i replaced that and the filter and the car starts up fine, for those of you who havent checked the battery check it and make sure it was water in it and everything, if ur wondering about the charge of the battery u should be able to take it anywhere and ask them to test it, auto zone, advanced auto parts, etc
