This idling prob really sucks!

For everyone who has been giving me pointers on my idling issues...

I have cleaned my IAC, checked my minimum idle speed, checked my TSP voltage, checked for vacuum leaks, checked the firing stuff, I have had the plenum off and found a couple of intake bolts loose thinking that was it but wasn't.......what now?

I have not.....changed the fuel filter and I don't know how to check the firing of the injectors.

The car feels like there is a slight miss somewhere and the idle is rough when cold and gets better when warmed up all the way. Maybe I just need to run it with some high octane fuel since it sat for a couple of months without running.

This is an '87 Iroc-Z with 350 TPI.

Help!

I would test your MAF and check fuel pressure. Also I believe someone in your other thread asked about your ignition. I would check out the plugs and wire too. Good Luck.

If the car sat for a few months without being run, change the fuel filter and add some "dry gas" to your tank. After you've run all of that tank out, change the filter again. Then run a good injector cleaner through the engine.
Next ohm out the injectors, you're looking for 16 ohms +/- 2 or 3 ohms.
If that doesn't cure the problem you could do an injector balance test.
For the test you need a fuel pressure guage and a special box to fire the injectors.
What you do is hook the guage to the fuel rail, hook the box to yor battery and to 1 injector, turn the key on and note the fuel pressure, now push the button on the box and note the pressure. Do this to each injector BUT!!! Do only 2 injectors, then start the car and start all over with the next injector in line. Also NOTE!! DO NOT do the same injector twice without starting the car between tests.
Now, take all of the pressure drop readings and compare them, they should all be within 10% of each other, more than a 10% difference from any injector and that one is considered bad.
Sunpro/Actron used to sell the test box for this test (it also did a whole lot more) Model # CP7819
Here is an E bay listing for one, they are discontinued http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Re: This idling prob really sucks!

Okay, I'll ohm out the injectors and check the plugs and MAF. I hope something comes thru soon! Thanks!
