Re: Alternator Replacement Instructions

dear god, I hope it is easier for new hondas than it was for my 85. Had to take off the whole control arm to get to it.

If you can get to it though, disconnect the negative terminal at the batery. Take off the belt, take off the wires, unbolt it. then do the opposite to put it back on.

Maybe someone with a newer honda can give you a little more specifics.

I am able to get to it pretty easily, but the problem is there is not enough clearance to pull it out. I'm thinking I need to loosen the front motor mount, so I could get the extra inch or so which is what I need to remove the darn thing.

Re: Alternator Replacement Instructions

hmm... yah, that's the way it went with my 85, could get to it, just not get it out. The hanes manual said take out the control arm, and thats what we did.

I worked on a later model accord once and was able to get it out by taking off the power steering pump. I think it was around a mid 90's somewhere.

Might wanna grab a haynes manual for your year for the specifics. I don't know that I'd recomend loosening the motor mount, unless you've done that before...

(I don't think I ever cussed more than when i was working on my accord. It was a good little car though.

Re: Alternator Replacement Instructions

You need to remove the fan assly on the passenger side. There is two 10 mm bolts on the top that need to be removed and on on the bottum. Just loosen that on and pull the fan up. The bottum mount for the fan is slotted so you don't need to remove the bolt. That will give you the clearance you need.
