Cool Hello folks

Hello everybody,
I'm new here and have recently purchased a 1957 Chevy Belair 4 door hardtop. it has been about 80 % restored, but still has some items which will need some work. I hope I won't bug anybody with too many questions about this & that. Have a wonderful day !

Re: Hello folks

Welcome to AF! Glad to have you here.
Are you doing a original restore or do you have any mods on it?

Hello, Hobbes, thanks for the welcome....
I kinda like the body to look as original as possible, but it does have some mods already. It has been lowered 2" all around, it has aftermarket air conditioning, power front disk brakes, 100 amp alternator, and the engine has been swapped for a 350 hp ,350ci small block w/4 bolt main, new holly street avenger 750cfm carburator, and full set of headers. It has flowmaster dual exhaust (3") and a chevy 700R4 4 speed overdrive automatic trans.
THe interior has been redone in a sort of grey tweed, with bucket seats, center console, and the back seat has a built in armrest which folds down from the middle. I just got a custom autosound usa-1 stereo (to match the dash) and a 6 disk cd changer in the trunk. I have a rack & pinion steering kit to put on it, but i'm partially disabled with a back injury, so I think I'm gonna have to let somebody else put that on for me.
I'm getting a whole new rear bumper assembly for it ( if Danchuk will ever get it in from being back ordered.
Whew ! let me catch my breath !
I took it to the pressure wand car wash yesterday, and while it was running good all the way there, immediately after i finished washing it, i went to pull it out of the stall, and it started backfiring, missing badly, and wouldn't idle any more ( just dies when I let my foot off the gas. I didn't wash the engine, or even open the hood while washing it, but i'm wondering if water got down behind the hood and cracked the distributor cap ? I tried wiping the cap out with a rag, and even blowing it out with an air hose, but to no avail. It didn't help. so today i'm gonna change the dist. cap, plug wires, and tune it up, and see if that won't help it run better. When it runs right, it hauls ass ! I got down on it the other day, and smoked the tires like a dragster for half a block ( and california blocks are pretty long) !
Thanks for asking about it, and let me know if you want to know anything else. Have a great day

Re: Hello folks

Very nice list there. I hope the car wash incident didn't do any more damage to your engine. What color is it by the way?

Cool Re: Re: Hello folks

Hello, Rickey,
Well, the car is tropical turquois with an indian ivory top, and grey tweed interior i'm sending you a couple of photos of it, so you can see....
I'll also send you a photo of my bike. It's a 93 Honda Goldwing Aspencade, and next month I'll be having it converted to a trike, because with my back injury, after about 200 miles ride, it really starts to get a bit top heavy....
It is a 1500 cc, with a 40 channel cb radio, 25 watt 4 channel stereow/ cassette, and driver & passenger headsets for cb and radio, and built in air compressor for filling the rear shocks and fixing flat tires on the road.... while i'm getting it converted to a trike, i'll be getting a 6 disk cd changer installed into it as well.

Impressive die cast collection you have ! I collect them as well, but i only have about 14 (mostly 1:18th scale) and a few hot wheels size (1:43rd). I'll send pics of those next time i dust them, ok ?
Take it easy, and talk to you later....
