Brake Estimates

i've been trying to find out how much it will cost to replace my brake pads on both axles. I'd like to compare an average mechanic to doing it myself. I have good instructions for the whole do-it-yourself deal, but when i called midas, the quote i got was "anywhere from $100 on up." I have a '92 toyota camry, and my fiancee needs at least front pads on his '91 geo prism.... any help?

Re: Brake Estimates

Brake work is one of the easiest things you can learn to do yourself, but something that shouldn't be taken lightly. I would get a manual and read through the section on brakes. When you thoroughly understand it, then attempt to do it. Do one side at a time so you have the other side to use as a guide. You may also want to take some digital pictures each step of the way so you have also that to refer to. Incidently, your 91 Geo Prism is the same as the 91 Toyota Corolla and uses a Toyota brake setup. Good luck with your first project.
