Question erratic oil pressure pressure

Hello to all Just bought a 91 PA last month and we love it just got a few questions for anyone out there. I read in one of the threads about the erratic Oil pressure so that helps out with one problem. but I have also noticed that it is sometimes acting like it cuts out when the oil pressure gage reaches the maximum pressure according to the gage are the two related?
What it does at 60mph+ or slightly under 1900rpm it starts to act like it wants to cut out but never fully cuts out and the tach remains pretty constant with very little drop if any on the engine speed. I have never noticed it doing it at slower speeds but at hiway speed it is noticeable Is it possible that the two are related? Any thoughts are welcome

You have what is called "spark scatter" which is more prevelant when the engine is in 4th gear and the torque converter is locked-up and at low rpm, usually 55 to 60 mph. A lot of people confuse this jumping and jerking with transmission problems. It will be worse during humid weather and rainy days. Try changing your ignition wires and plugs to eliminate the hesitation. I would use some wires with the spirial wound wire (MSD) brand, instead of the carbor core, since the carbon core will soon start doing the same thing. The oil pressure is not related to the hesitation, however you can try replacing the sending unit for the oil pressure. I have a 92 Ultra and had both of the same problems you mentioned. I replaced the wires, plugs and sending unit and both problems were solved. The reason I suggest the better ignition wires is from experience. I first replaced mine with a new set of carbon core wires and they only lasted about six months until I started noticing spark scatter again on humid or rainey days. I replaced them with MSD wires and it runs great all the time now! I was just wondering what weight oil you have in the motor if your pressure guage is maxing out? You should stick with 10-W-30 with no additives. Go synthetic if you can afford it. Good luck
