Spring clamp things.
Have you guys seen those "Spring clamps" they just clamp two coils of a spring together. Are those safe to use? what happens if they break? wont they warp the springs and ruin their spring rates, the car would probably hit the bumpstops too. I've heard of some people using them with no problems. i wanted to use them on my stock springs so I can see how much i actually want to lower my car before I start buying new suspension parts.

That's ghetto as hell, cutting the springs would be better. Even though both are a bad choice.

Don't jury rig it like that. DO it right or don't do it at all. Get shocks and springs or fully threaded coilovers. If you can't afford to do it right...save up money until you have enough.
