fan quit on my 96 Deville..help!
The engine cooling fan quit on my Cadi the other day. I happened to have the dash information on engine temperature and I noticed that it started going up. It ususally runs from about 200-205 and all of a sudden it went to 210,212,217,220,222,226 and I pulled in a parking lot and the fan was not running. After it cooled a bit, I got out on the raod and it stayed about 205 till I got home (not in traffic). What should I check first...fan, relay? I read that the relay is under the dash, is there only one? Any info would be appreciated.

I'd check fuses, temp sender and the fan itself.

The fans run when the A/C is on. The dealer said that the fan would not run until it was around 225 or so without the A/C on. Anybody now anything about that?

Oh, well if that's the case where the fans are working, then it's fine! The Northstars do run hot, I don't think it's considered overheating until it's around 260 degrees!
