I have a 99 ZR2 pickup.
It is an excellent 4x4 but it does have some shortcomings.
bad news:
1-reduced payload from std 4x4 S10- only 750 lbs, I think this is due to the track bar over the back axle (needed because of arched rear leaf springs).
2-increased steering radius from std 4x4 S10. (not as maneuverable)
3-The front suspension is using std components but the truck has 31x10.5 tires which are a bit large for things like ball joints....keep it greased...I just changed out lower ball joints at 85k miles and I grease that suspension religiously...maybe they all go that quick, I don't know, but keep it in mind.
4-parking/emergency brake is basically useless-bad design
good news:
1- it includes most all options that you could ask for in the ZR2 pkg.
2- IT IS AN EXCELLENT 4x4- locking diff/large tires/skid plates
3- I get 19-20 mpg as long as I am mostly on highway

Basically I do love the truck, I have learned to live with the shortcomings. The engine is the std 4.3L that they all have (std 6cyl anyway) which I have no problem with. If you want a truck to be a worktruck though the ZR2 is not it--My 89 Nissan 4x4 has a 1400 lb payload- just for comparison.

thanks for the info, I like the whole look of the truck and everything about it. So it has 31x10.50 on it. Thats pretty big for a s10.
How much do they cost? I would like to know a price on a used one.
thanks
