catalyic converter

??????
I have a question about my cat on my 96 blazer. I want to take it completely off, but I have one problem, there is a o2 sensor in it. When I put straight pipe in place of the cat how do I fit the o2 sensor in there so that the check engine light doesn't come one. Don't worry about emissions I live in Wyoming and there are no emissions.
Any help would be appreciated thanks

One way to do it is get a nut thay fits the O2 sensor and drill a hole into the pipe then weld the nut over the hole and install the sensor. It ain't legal, but it'll work.

Re: catalyic converter

You need the cat in there or the O2 sensors will sense that it is not there and throw a code.

Re: catalyic converter

The second sensor tells the computer whether the cat is working or not. If you think that the cat is causing a performance problem, get one of the high performance convertors.

So will this idea work, and not send a code or do I need to find a cat. Another question where can I find a performance cat.
Thanks

Re: catalyic converter

If you chop off the cat, you will have to insert an O2 simulator into the after cat sensor harness.

Highflow cats can be purchased off of ebay or from any good muffler shop or parts supply company.

Magnaflow and Catco are good ones.
