Getting discouraged again.

I started thinkin about my car again and if its worth all the money im putting into it. But my idea this time is like my old idea. I wanna get a tacoma again but keep my car for a weekend driver. My reasoning behind this is simple. Mostly im a looks and sound guy. I want to get a tacoma, drop it, put some nice big deepdish rims on it with a system. Speed is fun and all but when you come right down to it, theres always someone faster and thats what makes it more money and time consuming. Ill never be the fastest person out there and i dont want to spend all my god damn money on my car. I guess maybe having a fast car isnt my thing. I really want more to life than just my car. I want a good job where i make decent money and where i dont have to deal with bullshit. Maybe ill have to get away from the import scene for a little while and focus on whats more important in life.

My mom bitched at me again tonight when i got home. she says im never home and that all i talk about is my car. then i go and get pissed off and it sets me off track. I hate having to go to my algebra class because my teacher is an asshole and a prick. why the fuck cant the drinking age be 18 here. i need to relieve some stress damnit. i guess this is the reason people smoke. Some times i wish i had never bought my car or even liked cars. If leaving the forums would help change my life then maybe that will have to happen. I want to be where everything is mellow and fun and all you have to do is relax and have a good time.

Please dont flame me, just relieving some stress where i think people appreciate me and what i do.

Re: Getting discouraged again.

Just remember, car payments suck!!!! And with car payments come insurance premiums (if you finance a vehicle you're required to carry collision), plus depending on your area prepare to have an extra few hundred dollars readily available when car tax is due. I've been thinking on a newer car for awhile but I just can't reason with it just yet.

Re: Getting discouraged again.

car payments DO suck! i got a car repoed that way. i got this big ol' fancy truck, king cab, with all the trim packages... after like 6 months and paying for full coverage insurance and all i was like "what the hell did i do!"

and algebra sucks too big time! i took it 3 times in HS

i get discouraged with my car too. i haven't done anything to it since it got broken into. i figure "why should i have to pay for everything and install everything AGAIN!"

do what makes u happy. a break from the import scene may make u really happy and down the road u may get way into it again, totally refreshed.

hang in there!

Re: Getting discouraged again.

dude your 19, and you have a car. whats the problem. i bought my car at 19 and ive been the happiest guy since, even though its one of the ugliest around. also if you dont want to fix up your car, then dont fix up your car. theres no rule that says if you own a civic, you need to make it the fastest car around, fix it up to your liking and thats it. everybody has asshole teachers once, just dont let him bother you and get an A in the class

Re: Getting discouraged again.

Don't let The Man get you down. And don't let things stress you out, I know it's easier said than done. But take it from the king of stress, try to brush off as much stress as possible and don't let it get to you.
Just make your car fun to drive, if you're worried about it being fast then it's not going to be fun any more. Do what you need to do for yourself, because after your teens it all goes down hill from here

Re: Getting discouraged again.

nah not after your teens because 21 isnt teens. i would say after about 24 it starts to go all down hill

because at 21 and 22, this is the best sex i ever had compared to my high school years. high school girl= inexperienced. college and 30 year old milfs = experienced.

Re: Getting discouraged again.

it could be worse. you car could have been sitting since july 31, 2004....having to walk by it daily knowing it's not going 1 inch.

...so then you decide enough is enough. you stick some good rims & tires on and then wash it up. the battery is completely dead so you have to push it up the incline of the driveway so it can roll back down to street to be bump started. as you're sitting there with the car ideling up to charge the battery some the car starts to sputter as it's running out of gas. you decided it's time to hurry up and head to the gast station. you get 1/2 a block and as you shift into second there is a noise and your clutch pedal goes dead to the floor.....

welcome to my world.

that episode happened to me yesterday. luckily it was only the clutch cable snapped. jer grabbed another cable from home and swapped it out while i took his car & gas can to get gas. when i got back he had it fixed. i took it the rest of the way around the block and then back home.

i miss my car

Re: Getting discouraged again.

i got that beat.

bought my car is the summer of 01 not ruuning because of a broken timing belt from the previous owner. there it sat for a whole year because my dad told me he wasnt gonna pay for the insurance and i had just started college so my summer job was over. so it sat until next summer 02. then my dad says ok you can get your car running now and at the same time my friend wrecked his ls crx. so he says to me, hey david i got a ls swap from my crx, you want it for 1100. so i say sure so summer 03 i finally get the motor. i install it start it up oh major rod knock, ls gone. so i put back in the stock motor, oh bent valves in 2 cylinders so i pull the stock motor out. so a friend of mine tells me oh i got this b7 that i just swaped for a sohc vtec, do you want it, $60. so i say sure. so i buy the b7 from him and i install that. go to start it up oh fuel pump not priming and it has power going to it so fule pump dead, but it turned out the ground just got all corroded but i replaced that old pump anyways. in the process of dropping the tank, the fuel hard line(the one that ones through the car) rips because its rusted so i say oh darn. had to pull out all the driver side panels, pull out the whole dash, pedals, everything to get back down to the body because just so happens the fuel line are the first thing they install and everything else goes on top of them. so i get the fuel line, oh its bent gotta reorder a new one. get the new one its all good, i installed the new fuel hard line. finally after i get the car started, and the first day on the road, the coil goes out. replaced that and ive been on the road ever since. the only other problems i had was the 2 popped tires within 2 days and it leaks water so i get rivers everytime it rains.

Re: Getting discouraged again.

well i thought about it for a couple days. I do like my car and i do want to mod it. Ill probably see if i can buy my friends Z6 since he just bought an integra for an LS swap. It would be alot easier of a swap.
Damn civickiller i thought i had bad luck. And Ami thats very true it could be worse. I must be pretty lucky with my car bc i havnt had to replace any major stuff with it yet. Hopefully i wont have to. I just gotta do a little more thinking about stuff thats goin on in my life.

Re: Getting discouraged again.

so algebra? yeah, that class sucks for plunty of people, trust me on this one, lots of others are in that boat... if you have to think about modding your car, then dont, like i said in the other post, you really have to have a passion for it to soak atleast half of your money into it, and like youve said, old cars, lots to do with just a tuneup, man, i do what i do to my truck because seince i seen my cousins when i was 10 thats what ive wanted to do, a street truck, and now that i saved 5k over last summer, worken now, hs and college, i still want to drop the money into it, so i do, no regrets, jus thave to know when to quit for like you said, the rest of your life, i put money aside for girl friend, friends, and of corse beer, you cant soak your money into somehting like this, its your spare money that you can, just hang in there, finish hs, go to college, omg college is soooo much nicer, i didnt want to graduated untill i started my classes at community this year, and now i cant wait to get the fuck out, hotter girls, less rules and better instructions in that hard to pass class

nah i dont have bad luck. just a few hickups along the way. where i have problems with my car, is made up for in other areas. for example, this 30 year old hot milf that i recently got her number, well i knew her before, and i got to feel her implants, but i just got her number so we'll see what kind of fun that leads too. so lost in one area is made up in other areas. i would gladly have some car troubles to be with this milf. man shes hot. but then theres the ftf, then theres the college girl and her friend. well you see my point.

Re: Getting discouraged again.

rofl @ civickillier, niceeee

and don't hook up your 4g4d to go fast if you don't want it to be - you can always leave that option open later when you want it to be quick and you have more money

i'm probably not going to do anymore than bolt-ons to mine - 1. it's an automatic, it barely handles 100hp and i don't feel like doing an auto to manual swap 2. it's too expensive - upgrading the eingine, getting a turbo, getting it tuned, it's all time consuming and takes money but that's what some people are all about and it's what they love to do and it makes them happy

so do what makes you happy - for me having a nice clean interior/exterior with some custom stuff and not messing with the mechanics too much makes me happy
