85' S10 Blazer TV (throttle valve) Cable Removal

I have a 1985 S10 Blazer 4x4. I am in the beginning process of rebuilding the Varajet carburetor. My question is: How is the TV (throttle valve) cable removed to allow removal of the carburetor. Is this cable removed from the transmission or from the carburetor?

Thank you in advance.

you can remove it from the carb, and set it aside until you are ready to reconnect it again.

Open the throttle slightly and pull the cable connector forward. Might have to wiggle off throttle. It should unclip.

Re: 85' S10 Blazer TV (throttle valve) Cable Removal

There is no clip present, similar to what is used for the throttle linkage. There is a permanently molded on metal fastner on the end of the cable to prevent it from sliding through the bracket.

I will take a closer look at it this weekend. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Thanks again.

You are exactly right. Once I was able to get better lighting in the area I found that the clip, that the TV cable attaches to, slides off of the bracket by pushing it forward.

I now have the carburetor removed.

Thank you for the information and your time.

cable end broken

just joined recently...doing some work on my 88 blazer... the detent cable or tv cable mentioned in this thread is my problem....the end clip,
made of plastic, is broken off! checked with gm dealer....need to buy new cable with new ends attached...one end attaches at transmission while the other attaches at carb..just above accellerator cable ! How difficult is it to replace cable at transmission?
1988 s-10 blazer...2.8 L...auto transmission with overdrive..
Dealer needs to order part...not much help on installation!

You need to drop the tranny pan then disconnect the cable from behind the rooster.
