Unhappy no back up lights on my S-10

I have a 2000 Chevy S-10 pick- up manual shift. The back up lights and the high mount stop light will not work. Have checked bulbs and fuses. I can't figure it out. Anybody have a suggestion on what to do and how t o do it? Also it is just the back up lights and the high mount stop light that does not work the back stop lights work and i have tail lights. Thank you in advance.

Re: no back up lights on my S-10

welcome to AF! I think i may know what your problem is. You probally need to replace the stop light switch on your brake pedal. they cost around 10-15 bucks somewhere in there. its the switch that triggers your brake lights when you press the brake pedal. i'll try and post a pitcure if what it looks like.

oh, are your lower brake lights working? if they are this may not be thr problem, but it would be good to check it out anyway. it being a manual tranny the reverse switch might have failed that controls the back up lights.

Angry I have the same prob. with reverse lights.

I've been messing with the wireing on this thing since I bought my 90 Chevy Siverado back in march. I hated to but I could follow the tack for the front lights to fix the drivers light or the drivers highbeam. Now I'm trying to play with the drivers turn signal and my reverse lights still don't work. I've been looking for a schematic but can't find a good one I found a wire hanging off the tranny (manual) and another wire looking as if it broke from the tranny wire but afraid it's not to the same thing. Where exactly is the revers switch you speak of Tacoma Man? Any help woth be greatly appreciated. I fiddled with it again today for about 2 hours, and I went to the net and I found your forums prayerfully I'll find help here. Thnx.
