Vtec

hey, i was wondering...What is the big deal about V-Tec? I know it is variable valve timing, but why do people brag about it? Dont most cars have V-Tec, but just dont label it that? What gains does it give you and why do honda people brag so much about it?

Re: Vtec

more and more modern cars are getting technology like vtec. ie. MIVEC, and the toyota version.

vtec really gives an extra boost at the upper RPMs. thats why most hondas have very low torque but can rev high. its nothing to brag about. ive beaten a vtec integra twice. no big deal

Re: Vtec

at a certain rpm range only 2 of the valves work. but once a certain rpm is reached, the other 2 or 3 or however many kick in. at least thats how i understood it when i looked at the street bike with it.

definately. so much so you might need to put a wheelie bar on the back. you know, to maintain all that traction.

Re: Vtec

ive actually seen a guy on ebay selling an eclipse with a VTEC decal across the sideskirts.

and there is a guy in my town who has a red GT eclipse. he took the GT badge on the back and put a big red R underneath it to make it look like a GT-R symbol. it looks alot like a skyline badge. i just laughed my ass off
