noise under the hood

I have a 2000 maxima, and when i turn on the car in the morning, or when it has been standing outside for a few hours, it makes a loud noise that sounds like something is grinding. And then after a few seconds it stops.

Does anyone know what it could be?

you seem knowledgable, but no one can understand shit you're saying in 90% of your posts and i doubt this guy's gonna locate his problem on autozone's homepage. and my sig has nothing to do with anything, so that was just stupid.

U sicko sig:
- "has nothing to do with anything" -->then u demand INFO!
- "so that was ...and IS... just stupid." -->why display that?
- Basepoint for u thoughts -->Suggest: keep that secret and repent.
- IQ between legs: "all shit what I am saying" -->jacko will never see Wisdom.

100% REAL Info:
hahahaa: there is a chain in a car is there? lol "it's probably your timing chain"
Now butter some sicko on that.

i don't really know what any of that meant, and i don't know what jacko refers to. you like michael jackson or something?

i still can't understand you. are you trying to say that maxima's don't use timing chains? i can't say for sure about a 93 maxima but i know for a fact that 1995+ maxima's use a chain to time the valves, not a belt and they tend to rattle when it's cold out. so, "butter something blah blah" yourself, jacko.
