Multi Function Switch

Does anyone know were the Multi Function Switch is on a 1998 S-10 Blazer? And How hard it is to replace it?
My signal flasher is clicking all the time and my mechanic said it is the multi function switch not the flasher. $460.00 to replace. any help would be wonderful.

I think the switch he is talking about is the lever sticking out the left side of the steering column..the blinker lever (has the windshield wipers/washer/cruise etc). Shouldn't be $460?. Sounds like he thinks there is a short in it that makes the blinker permanently "on". Somebody else can probably tell you more about cost/job difficulty, Good luck with less cost than he said.

i'd start by putting good quality flasher in there.
if still prob, i'd try cleaning or replacing turn signal switch.

seems to be power getting to flasher when it shouldn't, suggesting faulty turn switch.

Re: Re: Multi Function Switch

No thats the right price. there VERY EXPENSIVE! Those suck to do also, Check your relays, flashers, and around the steering column for loose wires. Also Generally if the switch still locks down when you hit your turn signals. its still a good switch. Other wize dude take it 2 a pro its not a fun job. gotta take the steering wheel off. and everything. Lots of tools and lots of hours. Which signal is going all the time? well

There's a ton of posts on this subject over in the Blazer forum. Some people have claimed just cleaning the contacts in the MFS will cure the problem.

Re: Multi Function Swtich

Replace the flasher first just to make sure.

The flasher is 4 bucks.
