CRV near-accident - malfunction?
Hi.
I am trying to find out if anyone else has come across this. My wife has a UK 2004 model year (new) Honda CRV. All has been well with the vehicle until yesterday. She was driving on the M4 towards Heathrow, London, at around 50mph (in a controlled zone) when the bonnet (US: hood?) suddenly flew up toward the windscreen. Luckily she managed to pull from centre lane to hard shoulder and was unhurt (but obviously shocked!) It could have been much worse! She had the car checked by the AA before driving back from Heathrow. The bonnet would not close naturally as it has been bent/twisted by the force. Now, before you ask, it was around 10 days since the bonnet was opened purposfully, and she had been driving at motorway speeds in the time between. We visited the dealer and they claim that the clasp was working correctly. Honda UK are saying they've not heard of this before, but at the same time, her car was one of the newer '2004' models (ones with for example white indicators on front wing, and tiny fridge in centre of console) so it may be a new problem? Have any other Honda (esp CRV) owners had anything like this happen? Many thanks, David Wilcock |

we have many people coming on with this problem, from what ive heard it has something with the radiator moving and releasing the hood. the dealer is trying to pretend like it isnt a problem good luck
