Changing VW Jetta 2000 headlamp

How to Change a driver's side headlamp in a 2000 VW JETTA:

1. Disconnect battery
2. Unscrew two philips head screws that hold black plastic cap over the back of the headlamp. There should be a light bulb symbol on it. Remove the black plastic cover. Don't worry about the two hex/weird screws that hold the lamp in place - they don't need to come out - nor does the metal clamp on the right.
3. Unscrew battery clamp and remove- use 12 or 13 mil socket. It's at the base of the battery in the front.
4. Remove the black plastic rectangle that surrounds the battery. There is one screw at the base/front left. Use a 10 mil socket. Notice that the left side of the black rectangle has two plastic fittings/clamps holding it to the back plastic piece. Snap these puppies off. There are also two other clamps at the back of this plastic piece but you should be able to remove the piece (sort of) by yanking on it.
5. Remove the battery and set aside.
6. Pop off the two wire clamps that hold the cover to the back of the light. Remove the back cover of lamp (kidney shaped)
7. Unplug the power feed to the light...it has a small snap on it.
8. Twist off the black nut which holds lamp in place by turning a quarter turn. You should now be able to pull the old light out.
9. Insert new lamp making sure not to touch the glass. Your skin oils will cause the lamp to fail earlier or even explode.
