Suspension combinations
Just a quick question on suspension,
I have been reviewing a few suspension systems out there and I just need a few opinions on the Teins Basic Dampener for my DX, heres what I was thinking for them for what I want to do with the car, and a question or two: 1. Are they worth what they say they are? 2. As far as lowering Im only going to drop it maybe an inch and a half, if I do that will the ride still be alright? (As said in my sig I have 15's) 3. I need sudjestions on a camber kit, I was thinking on going with the skunk2 one, but still up in the air for that one because I know I am going to need one, at least thats what a friend told me. He said if you lower the car near anything, if you dont want your tires to wear faster, you need to get a camber kit, and he seems a prety reliable source to me, but to all those that might know more, is what he saying true? Last but this is on a slightly different subject. Strut tower bars, I have seen near a dozen of these, but I was wondering which ones are worth the buck? Like those from Skunk2, Greddy, DC...and so on and so forth. Any info will be apprciated.

Re: Suspension combinations
yes they are worth it, 1.5 inch drop is fine, ingalls makes great camber kits, but u may not need one with a 1.5 inch drop....

Re: Suspension combinations
The Tein Basics are awesome, but if you're just looking for a mild drop, get a set of springs and shocks. Will probably come out cheaper than the Basics, even though they are priced hella cheap.
For Camber kits, I like the SPC units. Have a few friends with them and they haven't given them any trouble so far. You probably wouldn't need a camber kit thought for a 1.5" drop. For strut tower bars, you want solid bars, not ones with hinges. The only two off the top of my head are Neuspeed and Benen.

Re: Re: Suspension combinations
I would recommend good lowering springs with good adjustable struts for 1.5" drop. True coilovers are over-kill for that, IMO.
Ingalls camber kits are my choice. Civic's don't have factory adjustable camber, so any lowering will throw the camber off. When you lower a car the top of the tire leans in riding on the inner edge of the tire. To a point negative camber is ok, usually 1.5" or more of lowering causes edge wear. Next time your behind a BMW check the rear tires out, you will see the factory negative camber. More important the toe also changes, that is a bigger tire eater than a little negative camber, toe is adjustable. If your adding strut bars thinking it will have a big affect on handling, that's not true. An upgraded rear sway bar will do the most. http://www.suspension.com/stam-bar.htm |
