Temp Gauge Issues

I recently had an issue wiht my cavs temp gauge pegging all the way over, i would shut it down for a few, and restart and it would cool a bit, and the thermostat or somthing would pop open and cool it to its normal running temp of ~130. I tested the thermostat in a pot of boiling water, it never popped, so i put in a new one. This seemed to have solved the problems, just last night (about a month after chanign thermostat) my temp gauge pegged again. It was a cold night after a nice storm, and i really diddnt let it warm up all that well, could that be a reason, or do i have another faulty thermostat?

replaced the thermostat again and also make sure that all the air is out of it. Also changed your collant temp sensor. That could make you guage go nuts but your car is really fine.

Re: Temp Gauge Issues

Have you ever had the Coolant Flushed. There may be some blockage in the block. If it has been a while I would flush it. Better to spend a little money and/or time on a flush instead of a blown head gasket.

good Luck
