Review on Header
Ok I went against some of you guys opinions and bought my header on ebay for $150.. I recieved the item in one week, did all the install myself (no shop around wanted to touch it and the one that would wanted $200). Its not that hard of an install outside of getting the bolts off (note this review is for 97-2001 models). The header that comes in the kit is missed drill on the bottom right and left, should be exspected from an aftermarket part. After I redrilled them correctly, they went on smoothly (note you will need to loosen the power steering wheel and remove the rad fan). The kit came with all the gaskets, bolts, down piping, and a new fake cat, also proper holes for your o2 sensors. NOw if you live in a state that requires an emissons test I suggest against buying it, for you dont have a cat anymore (looks like a cat from the outside but its hollowed out). Performace is probably what everyone wants to know. There was a def boost in power through out! I can chirp my tires in both 1st and 2nd now. Outside of the miss drill the headers are well worth the money! They are a 4-2-1 set up! Note performace might be different: my set up is as followed: CAI, a true custom cat back (2.25 piping strieght piping all the way back), no cat, and new headers.

Re: Re: Review on Header
I looked on ebay for your header and it basically is the same one I got.. it works great and I have had no problem outside of an o2 sensor dying (but i am perrty sure that was my fault). Only thing I warn you is that the header might not be drilled properly, but nothing that a basic drill cant fix. Good luck and trust me you will be a whole lot happier!

Didnt think I should make a new thread for this question, but I was just wondering if a bigger throttle body is worth investing in if I dont have exhaust? Also, can duel catbacks be installed on the 01 Tib, i4 w/out spending a shit load of cash?

Re: Review on Header
a bbtb is always good for more air flow to your intake manifold

I know the dual looks cool, but for performance wise it is a waste to go to a dual. The whole point of exhaust system is to get rid of the exhaust fumes as quick as possible. When i went to have my custom exhaust done I wanted to go with the dual exhaust too, but there is a box on the left side that your not suppose to get heat by, so i went away from that. So instead I had them increase the pipe size, very little bend at all, no cat, and a sound that makes people look. BUt for enough money u can get it done, just not worth it honestly! |

Re: Review on Header
hey furbrother,
did anything happen with your check engine light? I'm about to install these headers and I don't know what to expect, also check out thread labeled " working on boosting horsepower" that i started, i have some specific questions on there regarding the header install and what to do afterwards, i could really use your experience to compare to mine. |

Ya, the header install on any year I4 Tib is pretty straightforward and easy. I found my install to be easy, but overall I was disappointed with the gains I had going NA on my BetaII. I have since removed all my NA stuff and am going FI. As far as a BBTB, well you won't really feel much in the way of power, maybe some crisper throttle response.
