swapping big six with a v-6

I have a 1995 F-150 with a 4.9 (300) straight six with 5-speed stick. Am interested in replacing this engine with one of the newer V-6's. Anyone know if this is posiible (or practical) and will the 4.2 V-6 bolt up to the tranny?

The 300" six is virtually bulletproof. The 4.2 V6 has been nothing but trouble. Stick with what you have.
Also, the 4.2 Came out in 96 with OBDll Electronics, yours is OBDl. So, nothing will interface and you would end up with way too much money in it to make this at all feasible.

I agree keep the I6 even if it needs rebuilding. The I6 makes alot more torque and will last for ever.
