Unhappy help!!

i can't seem to make up my mind between the 8.1 or the duramax. the price difference has me leaning towards the 8.1 but i want the diesel . i keep telling the wife we'll make up the difference at the gas pump. am i fooling my self? can anyone help me out? what kinda gas mileage are you guys getting?

IMHO you have to do a whole lot of driving to justify a diesel. The outragous price of diesel fuel is another negative factor that makes the break even mileage even higher.

well i have 21000 miles on my current truck and i've had it for about 16 months. i think that's more than average. also on average i'm towing about 250-600 miles per month depending on where we go. currently i'm getting on average 10 mpg when i'm towing at best it's been 12. i currently have an 04 double cab tundra. i plan on upgrading to a bigger trailer next year so i have to make sure i'll be able to tow it.
