Questions

Alright guys, I finally found a 2nd gen DSM that I really like. I was just told that the 2nd gen Talons have issues with the strut towers rusting too quickly and would like to know if I should be on the lookout for this and how much it would cost to resolve the issue (average). Oh yea and any other tips or things to be on the lookout when test driving it.
Thanks

EDIT: 1998 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo. Mileage is not known as of yet and the only modifications are the rims. The car is in Toronto and I'm in London (1hr drive). So before I decide to get there and test drive I wanna know about the strut towers and possibly anything else I should be on the lookout. Have already check edmunds2go for the simple things but I want some things yuo guys did or didn't check for and should have.

Heres her pic

Re: Questions

I have seen a few 2Gs with rusted out shock towers, and if I remember rightly they were all talons. Thats odd! At any rate, you can see with the hood up. On a friends white talon it was painfully obvious, the rust color really stood out. I can see this happening in the north east US with the tons and tons of rock salt they pour on to the roads, but in the rest of the country I dont think this should be an issue. Not sure about london's winters though, if thats where you are. Best thing to do is take a look at it. Any severe corrosion should be easy to spot.

wrong. in the 2g's, the non-turbo engines were on the right side (looking into the engine bay from inside the car) and the transmissions were on the left. in a turbo, everything was 180 degress opposite with the motor on the left and tranny on the right. now if you look closely, you can see the cars left front shock tower in the background which means if you rotated 90 degress to the left, you would be inside the car and looking at the motor, on the LEFT SIDE. also the cyclone was a jdm 6-bolt swap if i'm not mistaken but he could have just swapped over a few parts making it a "clone." none-the-less, it's still a turbo car.
