brake light/abs light

last night my car sat out in the frigid weather and this morning when starting the car the break light stayed on. It can't be the E-Brake because I never use it. AFter driving for under a minute with this light on the ABS light then clicks on above it. Any ideas? The fluid is good, i'll check the fuses too?

i would see if i could find a cheap one at a salvage yard and compare the two. but you could put a circuit tester to it maybe... not so sure about that one though, or what it would tell you

Re: brake light/abs light

the abs relay is under the hood in the black box, top left corner. (i think... i don't feel like going out side and checking for sure)

personally i'd pull the bulbs (altough most will disagree with that)

the shop bled the brake fluid and cylinoid and it it got rid of the abs and brake lights. Perhaps this will help those who have had this problem or still have this problem.

I would explain how to do it if i did it myself. Basically the symptoms I would have is that upon startup the brake light would be on. AFter driving for under a minute the ABS light would come on. So i had both the Brake and ABS lights on at once. I took it to the shop, he told me they bleeded the breaks and flushed the fluid out, then put new brake fliuid in. It cost only 40 bucks. Sorry I can't be more help with the technical details. He said that should do the trick but to call him in 2 weeks incase the light came back on. If it does then its probally a bad hydrolic ABs unit or something. Its around 1600 from dealer and availability of rebuilt ones is tough to find, although i did find a site online for around 500 bucks for one. Hopefully this does it though and so far no lights are on~!!
