Question 00 Mustang Airbags/Odometer

I have questions and concerns about the 00' mustang airbags - Feb 12th I got hit head on by a much bigger and taller Ford F-150 which totaled my mustang; however, no one can explain why the airbags didn't go off. The Ford dealership scanned the system and stated that none of the modules would respond and that they would have to repair and replace wires to do a further check - but the airbag system came back positive that it is functional, and the odometer was stated that it was inoperable but when working it had not been tampered with. Can anyone else please tell me how I can get someone to check out these two systems to make sure they were functional and the odometer had not really been rolled back, and still not receive a text book answer. Another question is on the passenger side airbag release flap had came off partially on the right hand corner about 3-5 inches, when I lift the flap you can see the white airbag and the outside layer of the bag on the edge is a burnt orange color. Isn't the airbag meant to be in a sealed metal box or totally covered and not opened up behind the release flap. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
