Exclamation 88 no start need info. desperate.

i have a 88 s-10 with 204k in VERY well running order and bottom line it stoped running. fuel pump, filter, lines are brand new and working, ditributer and parts inside are new and working, filter is new, spark plugs/ wires are new, gas is good, no clogs in lines, electrical works, timing set professionally, almost everything i can think of i checked and came out working fine. i hope some1 knows more about this truck then i do to help. i pulled out the Idle Control Valve (i think thats what its called), its located on the manifold rite under the air filter and above the distributer. anyway i pulled taht out and the spring that is inside (which i think control the air mixture??) fell rite out. but what i do no about this part is that the spring itself is not soposed to come out rather it is soposed to move back and forth for the rite amount of mixture. so, im hopeing this is the problem i just replace the $125 doller part and hope she runs! thanks for any input. any help is appreciated.

If it turns over but does not start you may want to look at the coil. Also clean the connections to the coil. YOu may want to to get some one to try and start it while you use a insulated tool to hold the plug wire and see if it is getting any spark

no start means either no or too little spark, timing out, or no or poor air/gas mix...

this why i prefer older carb models that make it easier to determine if no or too much gas, simply by looking smelling in carb.

to check if sparking spend few dollars on pencil-like thing with half round end 1 end and small light other end... when held against big high voltage ignition wires, light flashes if current in wire. use it on main coil to dist as well.

if sparking, it should atleast try to start if coil and spark weak, unless timing way off for some reason ... or no gas or air getting in... at this point a short burst of dangerous-hard-on-cylinders "quick start" may help determine if a fuel/air prob, if it gets engine trying to catch.

if not carb model, try smelling tailpipe after turning over number of times to check for gas smell, meaning it's going thru but not sparking at right times.
