MicroSet/Sol use on tire decals
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck using MicroSet/Sol (or similar product) on tire(tyre) decals? I haven't tried it yet, but thought I would enquire before I potentially destroy the decals in the kit. Cheers, M |

If they are water based decals, I've used these products on tire decals and it worked just fine. When you use it correctly that is. BLUE bottle first, LET the decal dry and the apply some in the RED bottle to get it to conform to the tire.
If it's the sticky kind, then I've not used these products on those kind of decals. Someone with a little more knowlegde then me can perhaps answer better. But I hope this helps. |

Hi,
yes i use microsol on all my tire decals, that is the only way to get them on properly. then you dullcoat the tire and it comes out really nice. dry transfer decals dont require any of this though. |

Re: MicroSet/Sol use on tire decals
Yes, I'm using wet type decals.
JT - those tires have come up great! When you say dullcoat, do you mean a mixture of say clear plus flat base? |

it is Testor's dullcoat Lacquer. comes in a jar. you can airbrush it, or just brush it on. it dries perfectly smooth, i just brush mine on.
another tip is always use lacquer paint on tires, it is the only paint that dries.

Sorry to stray off topic but I was just wondering James, I have Testors flat clear. Is that the same as dullcoat? Also, it's white in bottle - I take it it dries clear (like Krystal Klear glue) |

Hi.
i have never used Testors flat clear, if its white in the bottle? it could be like tamyia's flat base? and that doesnt dry clear. it just makes other colors flat when you mix it. |

) but I think the ones that aren't clear in the bottle tend to 'yellow' after a while. Cheers Farrokh

Re: MicroSet/Sol use on tire decals
Aaaarrrgghh!! I bought these from the states, took ages to be delivered. And bought it because I thought it was dullcoat!!! I need it for the interior of my focus to make parts 'flat'. I thought I was buying the right thing.
Now I'm gonna have to buy from Tower Hobbies again and wait another month until I can dullcoat my various parts. Ah well, patience....patience....patience! |

Sticky-
The Testors acrylic is a flat clear coat. They also have gloss and semi-gloss. |
