air intake

just wondering if this would be worth the money and time.

Thats junk. The filter needs to be enclosed away from engine heat (CAI) or moved into the fender well via some tubing (FWI) otherwise like the one in that add, its just sucking in hot air from the engine compartment (HAI) which defeats the whole purpose of having it in the first place.
Check down at the bottom of this page. Thats how I did mine.

Better off going with a true cold air intake (CAI). Thrasher, MSP, Wizaired, SLP all make good ones. What you have there with the open cone setup is a hot air intake. Check out www.pfyc.com or www.3800performance.com
