a mad ex-ipod user

okey so yeah .. i just realized that my ipod has finally died on me. I have the third generation ( the one with the all touch interface and light up play buttons and such ), and i've had it for only about a year and a half. Pisses me off how i saved for so long and only get a year and a half out of it.

So i was wondering, while im looking for a new player to get, is there any mp3 players or media players that you guys would suggest to get? Or is there anything that i should look out for in the future? Like some new super player or something. I don't really if i'll buy an ipod again, i just feel like everyone has them now and i just want to get something different.

Try one of those Video playing ones. I think it is called the Creative Zen. Something like that would be unique, and you can watch videos. If you want back into Ipods, go for a gen4. Many of the problems should be fixed.

Re: a mad ex-ipod user

Is it the battery? If so, you can send it in to Apple to get a replacement. It's like $99 or so, but its far cheaper than any new mp3 player.

I really love mine. It's the Creaztive Nomad Zen Extra 30GB. Great software, good looks but it is much larger than an iPod. Got mine off eBay for about 150$ which was half the cost of retail. Or you can get a Rocbox, same thing just black chrome

Is that the TV one I was talking about? or just mp3? Because I believe the Video one was about $500 retail.

It's just the music one, I didn't find use for the video. Really wanted it but was very impractical for my uses

There's also an adapter that you can buy for like $40(?) that plugs into the iPod where you plug the data cable into. I saw one a while back that was pretty low profile but I just did a search for it and couldn't find it...all there was was a big as all hell batter pack thing.

Re: a mad ex-ipod user

yeah when i got my ipod i was thinking about getting one. But its way way WAY more than that. Like it just wont start up, and stays at this one boot page with a little apple .. for ever. Everyonce and a while it will pass that (like in an hour) and then as soon as you plug it into the computer. It messes up again. Somehow i think that the battery messed something up or something.

BTW has anyone experienced this problem ?? I posted for help in the apple discussion forums but no one came up with any solutions. Only option i have is it just buy a new battery, pop it open, and operate.

be careful

if youre looking at getting a new player be careful, i loved my rio, it worked awesome was an exceptional price, and made me happy. but later after i updated the software it started having problems, and i thought no biggie i'll get it replaced, THEY ONLY OFFER A 90 DAY WARRANTY, from the date of purchase. bunch of assholes! so lookout for that. good luck

Re: a mad ex-ipod user

yeah i hate bs like that. I mean i saved for just about a year plus with all the anticipation that built up. I too was so happy when i got my ipod. And now to see it sitting there with not much purpose at this moment made me want to drive up to the apple dealer that sold me it .. and throw it right through there window

Re: a mad ex-ipod user

I have a RIO Chiba now, I love it, it is a cheaper one, and I have expandble memory in it. But it has been thorough hell and back and it still works perfectly......It is only music though, if you were looking for something else.........I don't have a clue

My thoughts

Re: a mad ex-ipod user

Ryan ..

Can those be used as like .. a flash drive within itself also? Tha'd be pretty cool .. might have to look out for that .. i'd justt have to get used to holding a smaller selection of songs. Because actually im looking for smaller things. Because the ipod was somewhat big .. but yeah. I'd like to be able to get a smaller one.

Re: a mad ex-ipod user

Ya know dp, im not real sure about that....I have only put music on it, not any other files as well. I have a 128 SD card in it, and the 256 internal, and it will hold 70+ songs on it. I have never tried putting other information on it as well as songs, I will have to try that to see if it will play the songs on the card (atleast that is how im understanding your meaning of flash drive...) I know for one, it is a heck of alot lighter than an ipod,....

Later
