corvette c6 (new dimension...)

I got some pastell crayons last weekend and heres my first work after a few try-outs:

I read the tutorials by Canay, aseanz and ansisK on marker and pastell rendering. Thanks a lot guys, you really helped me a lot.

Not that I want to praise my work to heaven but I was rather surprised how good it came out. Proportions aren't perfect because it's freehand, but the color, the "fourth dimension" gives it very much eye attraction, I think.

Lol btw, my dads only comment was: "Oh if you had turned the paper, the whole car would have fit on it." That was all he had to say.

c&c please...

Re: corvette c6 (new dimension...)

very nice!

what was that french guys name who used to be around here?

Your results are similar. If I'm not mistaken he was using ink and charcoal or something like that, regardless what I'm trying to say is that I really like the "artistic" look and feel.

It may not be 100% accurate, but it's a great piece...it "feels" right.

do more

If you look at my eclipse then look at that...
If only my drawings were as imperfect as yours.

Wow I think it is awesome! do any of you sell prints of try to market your work at car shows? Some of the owners of these cars will pay good money for an original drawing of their 4 wheeled babies!

Thanks for your comments guys!

I used a HB pencil, "stock" ballpoint, red, black and grey copic layout markers and red, black and grey jaxell pastell crayons.

Unfortunately I don't know Courght. Haven't seen one of his postings yet. Is Courght his username?

It was Corght I think, and he was rather irritating. Haven't seen him around for quite some time.

Re: corvette c6 (new dimension...)

oh yeah! well...um...ok maybe you're right, but he was French and was using a completely different approach. He just didn't understand that is was bad to post every drawing you ever did in every new thread or reply. lolol

oh sorry Knight....I'd like to see another piece like this. Maybe a VW which is without a doubt the style defining vehicle for any automotive artist to attempt...lolol FLAME ON!

Re: corvette c6 (new dimension...)

as alex said the reflections look great. but the lines are a lil too dark for my tastes. it's a great peice.

Umm... well Kannibal, the original looks better than the scan. The scan coes out very dark and the lines are thinner at the original.

Re: corvette c6 (new dimension...)

oh well. I guess what I meant about the dark lines was...hmm.. lets see how do I explain this?.....ok look at a doorseam(where the door meets up with the fender). notice how you will almost never see a black line where the gap is. on a red car the line will usually be a darker shade of red with highlights on either side of the darker red line.well here an example of what im trying to explain. look at the doorlines. http://img224.exs.cx/img224/3797/crxconcept5px.jpg
hope this helps.

Yeah you're right, but I wanted to have this concept-style and so I took the ballpoint to make line. It's easier this way too, because I then know where the door ends.

Here's the reference btw:
