Re: performance chips

The "chips" on ebay are nothing more then a mere resistor. The function of the resistor is this:

You unplug your IAT sensor, so it sets the default air temperature of the incoming air to 32 degrees F. This will dump more fuel then there is air for, causing your vehicle to run slightly richer in most cases, making about 1 to 2 HP at the most. However, if the temperature actually goes below 32 degrees, you'll be running lean, which kills performance and is dangerous for the engine. If it gets to warm outside, you'll be running too rich = lost power. (by the way, the resistor is their just to prevent a SES light from coming on by giving it a false signal). The resistor is all-around a bad idea. I tried on my 2001 GA, and in some cases I found my car was bogged down horribly. I saw essentially no gains from it - only a drop in gas mileage. I would greatly advise against doing the IAT resistor mod. If you decide you want to try it anyway, you can go buy one at radio shack for about 50 cents - same exact thing.

Ebay "chips" / resistors = suck and do more harm then good

DHP Reprogrammed PCM = good lol
