Help with Trouble Codes!!!
I got codes 23, 42, and 51 on my 1994 Geo Hatchback 3 cyl and 5 spd. Anyone give me some info and possibly some things to try. I am a newbie and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

DTC 23 is an Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) circuit error. That sensor is located on your air filter assembly, I believe there is only one sensor on it. Make sure that it is connected, it is easy to miss it if the assembly was removed for maintenance.
DTC 42 is an Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) circuit error. The sensor wire for the CMP extends from the distributor. Check this connector. Your DTC 51 problem is much more complicated. It is an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) error. This problem has been discussed at length on several other postings on this forum, including possible repair ideas. Read back on these and give them a try. Good luck! |
