low beams won't shut off on 97 PA

Hey,

I have a 1997 PA regular, with 240,000km's on it. Yesterday i shut off the engine to get out of the car and the low beams would not shut off. I took out the fuse for the right beam and it shut off, and i took our the fuse for the left low beam and the left one remained on. I had to take out the plug directly from the bulb in order to shut off the left low beam and i currently have no front lights except the high beams. Any ideas what the problem might be, or how to fix it, or what to look for, i am completely stumped.

Re: low beams won't shut off on 97 PA

You have a short to power somewhere, most likely in the headlight switch itself I'd say. If you can, tyou can verify this by accessing the switch coneector, put the bulb back in (lights are on when they should be off) and diconnect the switch, lights should now go off. If not, then there's a break in the wire somewhere after the switch and before the headlights. But, it's probably the switch.

Now, I'm not an electircal guru, so if anyone has an easier way to explain this please feel free to jump in.
