Pictures with my messed up timing.

Yes, its a straw, I used to to find TDC. The pictures are at a small angle, i couldn't get a direct side shot.

here you can see that its a little off. But that is as close as we can get it to matching up with the head. The sprockets slip and won't sit at the exact spots.

Quarter turn.

Half way.

These next two are to show you how there is almost no slack on some of the turn, compared to the obviouse loosness...

And pressing on the belt...

Re: Pictures with my messed up timing.

If you are referring to them not being perfectly aligned, mine is the same way. I don't think you have much to worry about. If you are really concerned though, you can get some adjusteable cam gears to compensate for the mis-alignment.

Re: Pictures with my messed up timing.

Arrows on the sprockets in the "Up" position, marks on the sprockets in line with each other, and the white mark on the crank pulley should be lined up with the indicator on the timing cover (assuming the mark on your crank gear is lined up with the arrow on the block and you having tightened the tensioner correctly). If all that's true then you should be okay if not follow this guide:

Um if you didnt notice, he doesnt have a stock engine? Have you ever tried to go to the auto store and get a timing belt for a dohc zc engine. Cant happen. So what you have to do is get one from a 88 prelude 2.0 And the timing marks cant both be up. They have to be a little off for it to work properly.

Hmm the slack looks fine. Have you tried to start it yet?

Are you serious..its not stock??? So the b16a that's in my crx isn't stock either???? Since when have people "Swapped" different engines in their cars????

The process is the same whether its b16, b18, or dohc ZC. Here's a pictoral link for a ZC: http://www.markl.f9.co.uk/howto/engi...iming-belt.htm

Yeah i am fricking serious dumb ass!!! I never ever knew that i could go to my honda dealer in 1990 and by a crx with a dohc zc in it. Looking at your link i assume you dont live in the us.

The b16a in your car may be stock because you have a fricking SiR or whatever the hell the b16a came in europe with. Since when have people "swapped" different engines in their cars. Fuck in america like at least 60% of the active people on the board swapped engines from a different car.

Gosh what a fricking dumb ass. Unfortunatley we cant but dohc zc timing belts. You may, but us mericans cant!! We have to use the prelude one which the size is a little different, but real clost which sets the timing off a little and the cams cant be TDC the marks are pointing in the center a little bit ( due to the space b/w the cams)

Re: Pictures with my messed up timing.

never mind... just re-read it that the belt does tighten and loosen. When does it get loose when you are cranking it over. Is it after a compression stroke or before?

Re: Pictures with my messed up timing.

Its called sarcasm jagoff, I live in Ohio and I put the motor in myself. All I did was post some info and you go on a rant like a little kid. This is a forum not your personal website so kma. I posted how to install links because I assume he has the right belt for his application and 99% of the time the issue stems from not following the procedures...like turning the crank pulley 3 teeth counter clockwise to set the tension.

If i were you I would double check eveything and make sure its all where it should be. The ZC link was the first one that popped up on Goggle, I'm sure you can find better ones if you even need install instructions.

Re: Pictures with my messed up timing.

OK, so i put the valve cover back on and the spark plug wires in and went in to start it.... annnd...

Power was fine, everything started CD player was playing, and i push the clutch and in turn the key and it just doesn't want to do anything.

It cranks but won't start. The timing belt is also slipping off of the cam sprockets, and the tbelt has a brand new gash in it that it did not have before.

Re: Pictures with my messed up timing.

i bet you didnt have your crank pulley on when you tried to start it. without the crank pulley on, the belt will slide off like that, the crank pulley holds it on.

as for that gash, better not take the chance. go get a new belt

Re: Pictures with my messed up timing.

holy shit i would definetly not try to start that car until you get that timing belt problem fixed, all your hard work could go down the drain if that timing belt slips off the gears. and that nice gash you put in doesnt look to hot either. was the old belt like that too or no?

When you crank it over and look at the cam gears do the spin straight with eachother or do they wobble? did you check to make sure you have in on good on the bottom too? is it riding on the water pump correctly? theres definetly something wrong there. i'd pull it off again and redo everything.
