Front Shocks 85 Blazer

My wife took her 85 Blazer to our neighborhood mechanic for front shocks. They said a fuel line and brake line were to close to the drivers side shock, and the lines would have to be cut to get the top bolt out.
Does anyone know a better way?

Well your neighborhood mechanic is both right, and wrong.

He doesn't have to cut the lines, but it's easier, and cheaper by the time he's done to just snip them.

The gas line since it's both carburated, and before the fuel pump does not have to be steel pipe, so he can just use inexpensive re-enforced fuel hose.

The other line isn't a brake line. It looks like it goes to the power steering resovior.

(sorry I hit the wrong button) That line doesn't look like a pressure line to me... but since he's the one that has to back his work if he feels it has to be, let him make it a pressure fitting.

He should be done the line mods in less than 1/2 an hour. I think that it would take me about 15 min

i picked up a haynes manual at autozone, it does'nt say anything about it. i live in the snow belt but when the weather breakes, i think i'll give it a go myself.

I replaced all my shocks last summer on my 85 4x4 blazer and nothing was in the way

if you don't have any problems it'll onlky take you 2 hours max for the full job.

I looked on my 85 Blazer again when I had more time, and neither hose is a pressure line, and the flexible hoses start right after that point.

If it was my blazer I'd be tempted to just cut the hard lines, and just use longer flexible hoses. They are just clamped on
