LSE appearance package

The Lincoln site is short on details on what exactly your $3,300 gets you with the LSE appearance package and frankly I can't see a whole lot of difference. I thought I have seen LSE's without spoilers but maybe I have that wrong. There doesn't seem to be any difference in the interior. I guess it is subtle, I just don't see a whole lot of difference. Can someone explain or even better demonstrate the difference.

Maybe I should make this question a separate post but if anyone knows the difference between the standard traction control and advance trac could you post it.

LSE Appearance Package availble on V-8 Sport only

includes unique 17" 7-Spoke chromed-aluminum wheels, modifed front and rear fascias and side rocker panels, unique fog lamps, color-keyed grille surroumd with chrome virtical bars, color-keyed license-plate surround, rear deck lid spoiler, all-red taillamps, LSE badge, LSE floor mats and unique wood interior appliques.

Thanks for the reply and the details, otherwise I wouldn't really be able to note the differences.

I am looking at two cars from the same dealer on the NET, there are very good pictures and very consistent in what they present, that is each car has nearly identical shots and angles.

Other than the grill in the front and I am not so sure I don't like the LS better than the LSE, I pretty much see no difference.

The rear does have the spoiler (which btw my doesn't like) and the LSE seems to have double exhaust tips and yes the light are all red.

I don't see much difference in the wheels, the LSE sure doesn't look like Chrome:

On the inside is one real wood and one plastic, maybe this just doesn't show up in a picture, but there is one more piece of wood above the shifter. Not sure if it is just the way the light is being picked up but the LS doesn't seem to have much wood grain and it is darker and I guess plastic?

the LSE all chrome wheels were an option - what you are looking at is the standard LSE two-tone wheels with a polished lip (an LSE only option)

the interiors are different because those are to different model years. the brushed aluminum is the newer.

There seems to be some very nice options on the LS like Side air curtains, Advance track, Xenon lights......... I don't think the LSE appearance package is one of them.

All years, all models have side impact bags, but only '03 and newer have the rollover curtain available as an option.

Advance trak is a more sophisticated version of traction control. It can sense lateral slippage (sliding in a turn) and correct, to a point, to help maintain control of the car. Most people who have it, love it. I don't have it.

You're looking at two very different cars. One's an '02 with the LSE appearance package while the other sounds like a fairly well-optioned '03 with old-style SilverStar wheels on it. I've got the same wheels on my '00. In '03, there were MANY changes/refinements made to the car and it is a MUCH nicer car by all accounts. You get more power, heated AND cooled seat, more interior storage, better comfort from nicer leather and armrest design, redesigned heads and transmission, better mileage, further refined suspension, express down AND up windows, available HID headlights, available navigation with voice control, available heated REAR seats, available rear parking "radar", etc...

I'd get the '03.

I think your right I would lean more toward the 2003 or even a 2004.

What exactly is the difference between side air bad and the roll over curtain. The Lincoln salesman claims the side air bags do protect your head and the curtain is more for keep debris out of the car, not so sure about that. But of course he wasn't selling one with the curtain, so I am assuming he would have said anything to make the sale.

The standard side impact bag is in the seat-back outboard bolster and, IIRC, protects your shoulder-to-hip region (maybe head, but I'm not sure). The optional curtain is mounted in the rail above the door and protects your head and shoulder area in the case of a roll-over or other similarly severe wreck.

Regardless, the LS, in any of its forms, is among the absolute safest vehicles on the road today. You can drive any of them and feel confident that you made a good choice.
