Throttle position circuit high???
My 420a motor is idling a little bit ruff and i scanned my car with our scanner and it shows a code saying: (throttle position circuit high). So can anyone tell me how i can fix this. The idling of my motor is kinda putt-ing.

My eclipse was doing that until i replaced it with a new throttle position sensor. That might be a good place to start. Their expensive at the dealership so you might want to get one from the junkyard.

Re: Throttle position circuit high???
Try adjusting it before replacing it. If this was a turbo car (thanks for clarifying by the way, and having the car in the sig to boot), I Could write up a long boring procedure on how to do this. But on the NT, I'm clueless. Try a service manual of some sort. Even a cheap 10 dollar manual should have this info. Beats paying 50 plus for the part.

When i had that problem, my car was idling between 1000-1500. What i did was i took the throttle body off and cleaned it good with a copper brush. Then i put it back on and it stopped. Then a couple months later it started doing it again. I took the throttle body off again and there was a chuck of gasket missing. I replaced the gasket which is about a dollar fifty and auto zone; then it stopped. I havent had that problem since and its be like a year and a half already.

Ned, you confused me too (it must be getting easier). He said the gasket was 1.50, but I have the feeling you misunderstood the gasket part, or for some reason thought the gasket should be more (it is at the dealer, ~4 bucks?). At any rate, the throttle body is clearly seen bolted to the end of the intake manifold. The intake or intercooler piping connects to it, as well as the throttle cable. Its got some vac lines on top too. Take a look, and you'll get the idea. Its not hard to change it, but you have to drain about a half gallon to a gallon of coolant so you dont get a spill when disconnecting the FIAV coolant lines. Should be a 20-30 minute job. There isnt much reason to change them on the 1g turbo cars, and the NTs are the same too (2.0 at least, cant speak for the 1.8 for sure). 2Gs are 52mm vs 60mm, so the 1g unit is an upgrade, but this shouldnt concern you. But, at 150k miles, if its running a little rough its worth the time to clean the TB bore and plate. There may be a vfaq or two out there. Its really pretty self explainatory, but be sure to keep the solvents out of the lower holes (will dissolve or damage the FIAV), and dont dump a gallon of cleaner into the motor. Use it wisely, and give it some time to evaporate. I would also pull the ISC and clean the plunger on that. Again, pretty self explainatory when you put your eyeball on it, just be gentle so you dont break anything and make the situation worse. With any luck, this will help you change that sig
